This is part 5 in a series designed to walk you through designing and sewing a messenger bag. If you have missed steps, you should go back to this page.

The way you cut out your fabric, you will have two strap sections that each have two pattern pieces. The first thing you’ll need to do is sew the two pieces of each strap section together. Press these seams open.

2014-09-10 15.38.03Interface one strap section after sewing the ends together. Your interfacing should stop right before the edges of the seam.

Pin the strap pieces, right sides together, and sew down one side.

Press each of the outside edges a quarter of an inch.

2014-09-10 17.40.31Fold the strap, wrong sides together and press it to flatten the strap. Pin it together.
