This is part 7 in a series designed to walk you through designing and sewing a messenger bag. If you have missed steps, you should go back to this page.

Before completing this section, you may wish to decorate your flap with straps or add closures.

Pin the exterior and lining pieces of the flap right sides together.

2014-09-10 17.08.27Sew along the bottom three sides. For best fit results, sew with a ¼” seam allowance.

2014-09-10 17.11.01Clip 3-4 triangles into the curved corners of the flap. This will allow the curves to turn more precisely.

2014-09-10 17.18.06Topstitch around the three sides ¼” from the edge.
